Rectangular brass plaque with 21 Essex Fusiliers crest on top and engraved edges around inscription, "In memory of Sergeant Walter Raymond White of the Essex Fusiliers killed in action at the Battle of Paardeberg South Africa 18 Feb A.D. 1900 Aged 20 years - and Sergeant Harry Bayard Barr of the Essex Fusiliers Died of enteric fever at Naauwpoort Hospital South Africa 30 April A.D. 1900 Aged 23 years. 'Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori'. Erected by the daughters of the regiment".
